Frequently Asked Questions

What is an RCC?

A Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) who has undergone the required training, supervision, and certification process through both experience and coursework. In order to display the RCC designation, professionals are approved through the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). Due to the rigorous approval process, RCC services are covered by multiple extended health care plans and have become GST exempt. Please connect with your provider or workplace for more information regarding coverage and benefits plans.
Please note: Edge CC does not bill directly at this time.

What is a CMPC?

A Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC®️) is a professional certification specializing in the areas of sport sciences, psychology, and counselling through university (undergraduate and graduate) coursework and has been approved to practice by the Canadian Sport Psychology Association (CSPA) and Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). The role of a CMPC®️ is to provide consultations geared towards improving performance and well-being related issues.

What’s the difference between counselling and performance consultations?

As both a certified RCC and CMPC®️, Veronika tailors services with her training and approaches for individuals across the mental health spectrum.

Counselling is targeted for mental health concerns relating to aspects of life outside of sport: stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, disordered eating, relationships, grief, ADHD/Autism coping, and life transitions. This could be an appropriate service for an individual asking, “I know something’s wrong, but where do I even start” or “I’ve got a diagnosis/diagnoses, but what do I even do about them?”

Consultation is targeted for similar mental health needs and how they specifically impact sport and performance. Specifically, consultations are for enhancing existing strengths, supports, and skills using professional support and goal-setting. This could be appropriate for an individual asking, “what should I do if there’s nothing actually wrong or big that I’m dealing with that would need therapy?” or “what do I do to bounce back after mistakes or get past this plateau I’ve been experiencing?”

Sometimes, a blend of counselling and consultation strategies are effective for meeting clients’ needs as humans first before they can fulfill their additional roles. This might include school or family dynamics affecting confidence to perform well on tests or in sports competitions, improving recovery strategies for life for experiences of burnout, or managing mental health conditions to perform well in both sport and life.

What are some approaches to doing counselling or consultation?

Veronika is trained in cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). Both of these therapies use interventions related to goal-setting, increasing motivation, reducing stress and worry, changing habits and patterns, and managing emotions. Some of the strategies will include exploring or changing unhelpful thought patterns, acceptance of the current reality, quiet and active mindfulness practices, understanding and moderating emotional experiences, stopping yourself from regretful actions in intense moments, speaking up for yourself more effectively, and managing relationships with yourself and others with more confidence.

Veronika uses her training with a trauma-informed and identity-inclusive practice, acting as an ally to LGBTQI individuals, Black, Indigenous, and immigrant communities, and girls and women seeking empowerment.

  • All sessions are GST-exempt, so the amount shown is the total charged.
  • Meet and greet calls are free.

How is payment completed? Can you bill my extended benefits provider?

Edge CC supports credit card and debit card payments online via Stripe or by etransfer to a designated email address. A credit card must be placed on file per the fees policy agreement for future sessions to be booked and in the event of a late cancellation or no-show.
Veronika is unable to bill directly to benefits providers at this time, although every Edge session will produce an invoice afterwards that can be used as proof for insurance claims.

What is your cancellation policy?

We encourage individuals to commit to prioritizing their mental health and wellness through counselling and consultation services, and therefore not cancel sessions except in cases of emergency or one single non-emergency “pass” per client per year. Otherwise, if there is a need to cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice in advance or miss a scheduled session, individuals will be charged the full fee for that session.

If individuals are late for a session, we will use the remaining time in our scheduled session.
